Check out the recording of our latest zoom. It was all about maximising the resource! We played a simple warm up game, went through a checklist to ensure you or your colleagues get the most out of Online Kapa Haka and got tips from real teachers using Online Kapa Haka in their classroom daily.
Kia ora e hoa mā! I’m excited to share around 25 videos for you to enjoy as we celebrate this special occasion. One highlight is a mini-series called Ngā Waiata o te Pō, featuring four episodes about friends camping and looking for stars, complete with music and interviews with talented kids. I’ve also included a beautiful waiata written by Troy Kingi along with an activity sheet and a song called Mahara Mai that connects with the themes of Matariki.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on these videos, so please feel free to reach out with any questions, and I wish you a safe and happy Matariki with your whānau!
Brand new Module released!
All about colours, days and seasons- check out Module 2 of Pihi aimed directly at our year 0 – 2 Students. Enjoy singing, learning and playing in module 2!
I’ve been on the road quite a bit the past few months and furiously editing the next level of our Te Reo Māori Lesson Progressions. These build on Kākano, which means seed and are aptly called “Pihi” which means to sprout.
I’m REALLY proud of how these are coming out; take a sneak preview of the first lessons here:
New Song Released
Last term we welcomed a few new schools from our waitlist with this new waiata “Ka Poipoia”. I had the privilege of working with the kaitito/writer Rob Ruha on a couple of Disney Reo Māori films and I’m stoked to be able to share this beautiful waiata with you all!

We had a great session with a mixture of school’s who’ve been with us since the beginning and some who’ve just joined recently.
We talked about the vision for Online Kapa Haka, getting clear on your school’s success outcome with Te Ao Māori and introduced a new framework to help teachers feel empowered to include Te Reo and Waiata in the classroom: Iti, Kimi, Ako.
